Orient Shanghai Hosts Shanghai Classic |

The China LPGA Tour teed off its fifth year Thursday with the Shanghai Classic, the first season that its tournaments will count for the Rolex World Rankings.Along with the Ladies European Tour (LET), earlier this month the two tours were added to the prestigious rankings system, which now covers eight tours worldwide.

THE CITY'S FIRST GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB
Right at the heart of LuChen district of central Wenzhou City is a hidden paradise atop a mountain range. Above the plateau is a beautiful reservoir next to which lies Orient (Wenzhou) Country Club. People from Wenzhou are renowned for being the most successful and aggressive of all business people in China, yet until now their hometown didn't previously possess a golf course. The major reason for this was due to the rough terrain around this area, where flat land is hard to find. The municipal government recognised the need for golf and so invited Orient Golf to come up with and develop an international standard course. Being the only golf course in the city membership is currently in extremely high demand. |
